Sardinia Romantic, exclusive and oozing stylish chic, its the perfect escape if youre seeking total, uninterrupted tranquillity. Your only difficulty will be deciding which part of this enchanting isle to see.
With over 1800km of coastline and a situation equidistant between Italy and Tunisia, Sardinia is in the heart of the Mediterranean and has flavours to match - it is an island that boasts a fiercely independent character whilst remaining indisputably Italian.
Sardinia's picture-book coastline, with its white sandy beaches and crystal clear emerald water, is some of the best the Mediterranean has to offer.
Alghero Alghero is located on a gorgeous sandy bay in the northwest of Sardinia, one of the towns of the Triangulo della Nurra Sassari and Porto Torres being the other two). The town and its surrounds stretch north to south from Capo Caccia to La Speranza beach and within this area you will find much historical and cultural interest.
The Aragonese conquered this part of Sardinia in 1353 and their influence on the town is still present to this day. Alghero is referred to more as a Catalan town than an Italian one; indeed the street signs are still written in Catalan and the local dialect strongly resembles it too. One of the local dishes, which can be sampled in Alghero's fine restaurants is 'aragosta alla catalana' which combines the history of the town with its main industry - fishing.
A stroll down the lungomare to the port will reveal lobster and coral boats and while the formers' catch is evident in the restaurants, the latters' can be found in the little shops dotted along cobbled streets in the form of charming necklaces and other jewellery and trinkets. Once you have toured the boutiques on Via Carlo Alberto, the most elegant street in the city, you are bound to wander into the heart of the old centre which lies within the Porta a Terra gate and houses some of the monuments and buildings dating back to as early as the 14th-century.
The church of San Francesco with its multi-coloured cupola has Gothic-style influences and its cloister is host to open-air concerts in summer. The Cattedrale di Santa Maria is one of the town's architectural highlights and is a landmark on the Algheran skyline. The original 16th-century Duomo doors and octagonal bell tower are still standing and the Campanile, open to visitors, affords stunning views as far as the eye can see.
Alghero counts many fantastic beach: Lido, Bombarde, Lazzaretto, Mugoni, Porticciolo, Porto Ferro, Poglina.
Why is Lupain Holiday Rentals the only holiday rental company to verify the ownership of holiday accommodation? Research has shown that not all advertisers are genuine. There have been cases where people have booked holiday accommodation only to find out it does not exist.
This sort of ‘scam’ is hard to comprehend but these days fraudsters are coming up with ever more imaginative ways of obtaining money by deception from innocent people like you. We do not want holidaymakers who book with us to fall victim to this type of scheme. Money is mostly hard earned we know, so taking a holiday is usually a major expense. In addition, we do not want you to remember us for a shattered dream.
Therefore, in order to protect you we have introduced our Owner Verification Scheme. We ask all holiday home advertisers to submit proof that they own the property they are advertising. Only when we are satisfied that an advertiser and their property is genuine do we add our Green Shield to their property advert. Apart from being a deterrent, it also encourages advertisers to make sure they verify their property, giving you peace of mind when you make your booking.
If you want to make a booking look for the Green Shield on the top right of the property advert, if you do not see our Green Shield it may mean we have not yet completed the verification process. We normally complete this process within a few days if no verification is forthcoming the advert is removed.
We take this Owner Verification Scheme very seriously for your protection. If you have any doubts about the validity of an advert or misrepresentation please contact us with your concerns.
Please note, Lupain Holiday Rentals does not verify the advertisement content placed on this website by property owners, nor do we offer any guarantee as to the correctness of the advertising information placed on this website by third parties.
