The Northern Costa Blanca The Northern Costa Blanca, situated in the Alicante Province of the Communidad Valenciana is classified by the World Health Organisation as having one of the best climates in the whole world with on average 322 days of sunshine and an average daytime temperature of 22 degrees Celsius.
Although our villa is only 30 minutes drive to the hustle and bustle of Benidorm, this area is really the preserve of the villa owner and the independent holidaymaker with few large hotels or high-rise buildings. There is a wide variety of coastal scenery; dramatic cliffs, rocky coves, small sandy beaches at Javea and Moraira and the 14 mile long expanse of sand from Denia northwards. Calpe to the south of Moraira with its outstanding Gibraltar like rock, Penon de Ifach, has good sized sandy beaches with formal promenades, bars and restaurants but here there are high rise buildings, mainly apartments rather than hotels.
Inland we are ringed by dramatic mountains. Take a trip into the wine growing area of the Jalon Valley and then maybe join the old Pego to Benidorm road through the mountains and take in the waterfalls at Les Fonts D'Algar and the mountain village of Guadalest. The Lemon Express train from Denia to Alicante allegedly provides some of the most spectacular views in the Costa Blanca.
Major attractions in Benidorm are Terra Mitica Theme Park, Aqualandia Water Park and Mundomar Marine and Exotic Animal Park
There is just so much choice the area must provide something for almost everyone.
Local Information For many there is little reason to venture further than the local towns of Javea and Moraira.
Within a few hundred yards of the our villa, within an easy walk is the local commercial centre. Here we have a fantastic international supermarket which can provide the majority of provisions for your holiday with freshly baked bread and excellent butchery and deli counters. There is also a top class restaurant and a bar.
The local beach just 2.5km from the villa is mainly stoney with some sand but is an absolute sun trap, the water is crystal clear and ideal for snorkelling. During the season there are two bars here one on the car park the other on the beach. We recommend you go there by car, the road is good and there is plentiful parking, although it is a pleasant walk there, only the stoutest of walkers would make the journey back.
Although we have our own swimming pool there are also many other pools available within Cumbre del Sol. There is a large informal pool with a snack bar in the local Pueblo - where there are also tennis courts - and a large formal pool and kiddies pool at the restaurant, ideal for the kids to swim while Mum and Dad enjoy a poolside drink.
For stunning 360 degree views of the area, find your way by car to the top of the hill but don't forget your camera, even the kids would have to describe it as 'awesome'.
Benitachell, our local town, and just 3 km away is really a working town but still has some pleasant restaurants and bars.
Moraira, just to the south and 10 to 15 minutes away by car was originally a fishing village. Now a smart and sophisticated town with a few small sandy beaches, a marina, and brimming with restaurants of many nationalities including Spanish! The small, scenic cove of El Portet on the northern edge of the town has 2 pavement bars overlooking the small sandy beach.
Javea , an almost equal distance to the north, has 3 main parts, the Old Town, the Port and the Arenal. The Arenal with its sandy beach is ideal for those with children and has a cosmopolitan array of beachfront restaurants, a busy promenade and a wide variety of mainly boutique type shops, For those who prefer a more Spanish flavour, the Port has many Spanish restaurants and more practical shopping than the Arenal.
Both Javea and Moraira have small permanent fun fairs.
Additional Details Further details outdoors:
Casa Susanna is set on a coastal hillside approximately 600 feet above sea level. From the sun-lounge and balcony at the front of the property you have wonderful views towards the lighthouse at Cabo de la Nao (right on the tip of Spain's 'nose') and out over the Mediterranean Sea towards Ibiza , which on a clear day can be seen on the horizon some 60 miles away.
The villa's private gardens are filled with Palm trees, Oleander, Yuccas, Agaves and other Mediterranean plants.
The upper patio area which contains the 8 x 4 pool with Roman steps and handrail captures the sun throughout the day and is not overlooked from any direction, offering total privacy. The covered Naya which has a second large dining table offers shade for those who cannot tolerate full sun and is ideal for alfresco dining. The summer kitchen area provides barbecue, sink, fridge freezer and a preparation bar making outdoor cooking a pleasure. There is a pool shower and also a cloakroom (outside lavvy). NEW for July 2009 we have added a new terrace providing an additional 30 sq metres of sunbathing area
There is adequate parking for 2 -3 cars.
How to get there:
Fly to Alicante or Valencia, which are almost equidistant from the villa. Although Valencia is slightly further than Alicante we prefer it. Its a much smaller airport but with good facilities and one of the best and cheapest cups of coffee awaiting you at the cafe bar in the arrivals area.
Unfortunately many of the budget airlines are reducing or cutting their flights to Valencia at this moment in time.
We use Goldcar for our car rentals their cars are usually top quality but test the price through Amigoautos.com as they are often cheaper booked in this way.
Why is Lupain Holiday Rentals the only holiday rental company to verify the ownership of holiday accommodation? Research has shown that not all advertisers are genuine. There have been cases where people have booked holiday accommodation only to find out it does not exist.
This sort of ‘scam’ is hard to comprehend but these days fraudsters are coming up with ever more imaginative ways of obtaining money by deception from innocent people like you. We do not want holidaymakers who book with us to fall victim to this type of scheme. Money is mostly hard earned we know, so taking a holiday is usually a major expense. In addition, we do not want you to remember us for a shattered dream.
Therefore, in order to protect you we have introduced our Owner Verification Scheme. We ask all holiday home advertisers to submit proof that they own the property they are advertising. Only when we are satisfied that an advertiser and their property is genuine do we add our Green Shield to their property advert. Apart from being a deterrent, it also encourages advertisers to make sure they verify their property, giving you peace of mind when you make your booking.
If you want to make a booking look for the Green Shield on the top right of the property advert, if you do not see our Green Shield it may mean we have not yet completed the verification process. We normally complete this process within a few days if no verification is forthcoming the advert is removed.
We take this Owner Verification Scheme very seriously for your protection. If you have any doubts about the validity of an advert or misrepresentation please contact us with your concerns.
Please note, Lupain Holiday Rentals does not verify the advertisement content placed on this website by property owners, nor do we offer any guarantee as to the correctness of the advertising information placed on this website by third parties.
