In the charming hamlet of Montemiliano Casa Rughino is a stone country house surrounded by scented lavenders, roses, brooms and rosemary. From its terraces overlooking Monterchi, home of Piero della Francesca fresco “Madonna del Parto”, you can enjoy incomparable landscapes on the quiet Tuscan countryside where wheat and sunflower fields alternate vineyards and olive groves.
The recent restoration has added comfort and neatness to the original Tuscan flavour, completely meeting with ecological building criteria.
We can offer accommodation for up to 18 people in 2 spacious apartments and 1 double room, all with their own terrace and independent access but connectable inside (in the Manor), while on the other side of the garden the old hay barn has been transformed in a charming studio apartment. We still have a little effort to make: a swimming pool with stunning views of surrounding hills. We hope to be ready by next summer … meanwhile enjoy Montemiliano swimming pool!

SIGHTSEEING The tiny ancient village of Monterchi is situated on the road to Città di Castello in the Tiber Valley, 30 kilometres from Arezzo in unique countryside with splendid vistas, looking across to small hilltop towns and villages with the Apennine mountain range forming the backdrop in the far distance. The major sights of Central Italy are a short drive away along the A1 motorway or E45 freeway: Arezzo, Cortona Siena, Gubbio, Perugia, Assisi and Lake Trasimeno are only 1 hour drive. No more than 2 hours drive to reach Florence, the Chianti wine Region, Montepulciano, Montalcino, San Marino and the Adriatic or Tirrenic seaside resorts. Just another hour drive to reach Rome.

THINGS TO DO ... Work in progress for our swimming pool!!! Just a few months and you could enjoy a cooling panoramic swimming pool at your private disposal, in a wonderful secluded spot, enveloped by the scent of lavender, broom and herbs, caressed by the afternoon breeze while in the distance a red-headed woodpecker builds his nest: an intense emotion for all senses! In the meantime, when you’ve seen the sights you can leave the “madding crowds” behind and return to the peace of Montemiliano for relaxing walks strolling along the numerous pathways which start from our olive grove. Or you can simply relax in Montemiliano’ swimming pool (14x6m in a very panoramic position) and enjoy the warm colours of the surrounding countryside. And if you still need more relaxation, thermal baths and a beauty farm are within just a 1/2 hour drive.
