Font Remy is the former Manor House of Le Petit Village, a peaceful hamlet 2km inland from the pretty fishing village of Mortagne-sur-Gironde. The property has been tastefully converted into four very spacious, fully equipped houses sleeping 10, 10, 6 and 6 and is set in a walled garden of 2 acres with views of the vineyards beyond. There is a heated 15x8m swimming pool, plus swings, table tennis, pool table, boules pitch, badminton, plenty of space for ball games. Tennis, go-karting, horse riding, golf, sailing, boat hire are all available locally. Mortagne has bakers, butchers, a small supermarket and bars and restaurants overlooking the boats in the port. Numerous sandy beaches are 20-30 minutes drive away and there are many historic towns to visit within an hour or so - La Rochelle, Bordeaux, Saint Emilion, Cognac, Saintes. For kids there is the best zoo in France (La Palmyre), an excellent Aquarium at La Rochelle and an indoor aqua park in Jonzac.

One of the things which distinguish the houses at Font Remy from most other gites is the marvellous feeling of space, both inside and out. All the houses are generously equipped. All houses have individual terraces with pergola, barbecue, table and chairs and sun loungers. All ground floor rooms have ceramic tiled floors and first floor rooms have polished wood floors. The games barn has a pool table, table tennis and table football, plus a video corner for younger children, board games and books - great if you want them to get out of the sun for a while. In the garden there is a boules pitch and badminton set and plenty of space for cricket and football.
