Volets Bleus with lovely pool, close to mediaeval Monflanquin
`Volets Bleus` is the very private wing of our own home.This self-catering tranquil gite is very comfortable and very well equipped. The private terrace has a dinning table and 4 chairs, a BBQ and overlooks the garden and the pool. There are extensive country views from the large pool terrace - shared with visitors to our 2 bedroomed cottage, situated further along the 1.2 acre site. There is an organic vegetable garden, and visitors are free to help themselves to any of the fresh produce. Beautiful mediaeval Monflanquin is just a short walk away - so no driving after a good meal at one of the several village restaurants.
Accommodation Summary : We have tried to provide everything that allows our holiday makers to spend a relaxing break. The kitchen/diner is very well equipped. There is a fridge/freezer, cooker, microwave and dishwasher. There is a good sized table and 4 chairs. The lounge area has 2 armchairs, TV [ terrestrial and satellite ], video, DVD and CD player. Internet provision on request.
The shower room provides a thermostatic shower and a washing machine.
The good sized bedroom has a double bed and lots of storage space.

THE REGION Monflanquin is a beautiful mediaeval `bastide` village situated some 40K south of Bergerac. It is classified as `L`un des plus beaux villages de France` and voted `One of the top 10 villages of France` by the Daily Telegraph travel writers.The local economy is essentially agricultural, with farmers growing large quantities of maize and sunflowers. The climate also favours the growing of grapes, strawberries, melons, fruits, nuts and tomatoes. The gently rolling countryside is dotted with chateaux and 13th centuary`bastide` villages. The Lot and Garonne, our department, is just south of the Dordogne, and just to the west of the Lot valley. It is therefore ideally placed for the exploration of all these river valleys, rich in history and beautiful scenery. We are ideally situated for visits to Bergerac, Monpazier, Isisgeac, St. Emilion, Cahors, Domme etc. It really is a historical treat.
ACTIVITIES Monflanquin itself offers a dedicated `boules` area, horse riding, tennis courts, lake fishing and a swimming pool complex.
Canoeing on both the Dordogne and Lot rivers is a popular pastime.
For golfers, we have a 9 hole at Tombebouef, some 25 minutes away. Check out the beautiful and challenging `Golf de Castlenaud` on google.
If all this is too much, just do what most of our visitor do - just relax by the lovely pool....

We would definitely recommend `Volets Bleus` to friends as we had such a lovely holiday. Pat and Pryce are superb hosts, always on hand with help and information, plus tasty home grown vegetables. The accommodation was immaculate and comfortable with all the necessary electrical appliances.It was a bonus being able to walk to the beautiful village for supplies and a meal or drink. The pool is fantastic, with lots of sunbeds and a lovely elevated view of the surrounding countryside. This is a `must` for holiday lovers.

We stayed at Volets Bleus for one week as part of a 2 week driving holiday in France. Pat and Pryce were excellent and friendly hosts - it was just what we wanted. We enjoyed the beautiful gardens and swimming pool. Volets Bleus was comfortable and pleasant enough just to stay put, but we also enjoyed our walks into Monflanquin for meals out and plesant drives to other villages and towns.

We stayed in Volets Bleus for a week in June 2009 and it was perfect. The gite is very comfortable and has everything you could possibly need including the fab swimming pool, especially when it got too hot to sit in the sun. We had some lovely walks into the village which is great, the views from the top are stunning. We were lucky to be there when France had their `Music Day` which was on the Sunday. All kinds of music from bands to choirs and everyone had a thoroughly great time. My husband even found a pub selling draught Guiness, a rare find indeed.
As usual the week went far too quickly and we had to leave this beautiful area. We did some sightseeing but it was too hot to walk around so I was perfectly happy at the gite with a good book [ or even watching Wimbledon- an added bonus for me. ].
Thanks to Pat and Pryce for a very special week. I would recommend their gite or The Cottage to anyone. A gem.

The advert on the net probably understates what a lovely place this is...great and kindly hosts- lovely property [ vastly superior to any pretentions of shabby chic]...it is clean, well furnished and well appointed.
Pryce and Par were always attentive and helpful; certainly we will commend this to family and friends. Local area has plenty to see and do, great local food etc etc.
A gem - it stays on our `best` list.

What a find! Beautiful, tranquil and surrounded by lots of things to see and do. The property was very comfortable and well equipped and you could not have wished for better hosts who had an absolute knack achieving the balance between ignoring you completely and swamping you with their presence.
We would have no hesitation in recommending this to anyone who wants a peaceful and relaxing holiday.
