Antiga Casa do Castelo is nestled in the centre of the oldest neighbourhood in Lisbon. You may become a true 'Lisboeta' in our little village inside the castle walls.
The house sits on the old Roman road 'Rua Direita-Rua Santa Cruz do Castelo' and archaeological finds just under the corner of house date to the 5th/6th century BC (exhibited in the castle museum). The castle walls have helped to preserve the neighbourhood and traditional ways of life in this 'village atmosphere' in the centre of Lisbon. The house itself is a well-appointed two-storey townhouse consisting of a first floor with an open-plan kitchen/dining area, sitting room, an 'office' with books, writing table, tourist information and WC. French doors open to a view of the Castle parade ground. The fine rugs and subtle decor are a treat. The en-suite bedroom is upstairs with a small view over roof tops, the river and Palmela Castle in the distance. We have everything you need + free Wi-Fi.

English speaking Rita and Nucha run the small arts and crafts shop on the ground floor and will be happy to help you with info about the house, the neighbourhood, local restaurants, taxi booking, trouble-shooting, etc.

Antiga Casa do Castelo is self-catering, though we do provide a generous welcome basket with wine, cheese, fresh bread, fruit, juice and milk in the fridge to get you started.

The castle neighbourhood is mostly pedestrian, so there is no parking.

Taxis, Bus 37, Tram 28 The castle neighbourhood is mostly pedestrian, but Taxis can enter and they go relatively cheaply (for two or more) door to door.
Bus 37 runs from Praηa Figueira (downtown) every 15 minutes to the Castle Archway until 20.45.
Tram 28 runs until 0.00 and stops just a little ways down the hill.

Only when we are satisfied that an advertiser and their property is genuine do we add our Green Shield to their property advert. Apart from being a deterrent, it also encourages advertisers to make sure they verify their property, giving you peace of mind when you make your booking.
If you want to make a booking look for the Green Shield on the top right of the property advert, if you do not see our Green Shield it may mean we have not yet completed the verification process. We normally complete this process within a few days if no verification is forthcoming the advert is removed.
