The villa is large, with spacious living rooms and lovely old furniture. The huge tiled terrace looks onto the lawn and the private pool. Casa do Cedro is 45 minutes drive from Lisbon and Lisbon airport and is 20 minutes from the historic town of Sintra and from various beautiful World Heritage site palaces. Tennis courts, mountain biking, golf courses and riding facilities are also all within 15 minutes drive. There are great restaurants nearby, especially for seafood.

BEACHES AND RESTAURANTS The local region is famous for its beaches, restaurants (especially sea-food, palaces, walking and golf. And the spectacularly special Lisbon is only 30-40 minutes away ...
The BEACHES of Sintra's coastline are famous: Praia Grande (great for surfing), Praia das Maηγs, Praia da Adraga (just below Praia Grande) and Magoito (further south), all from 10 to 20 minutes car trip from the house. There is another really big beach called Guincho south west of the house, where the surfing European championships have been held. Another great beach is called Praia da Ursa, which is about 30 mins away.
RESTAURANTS Execellent restaurants are everywhere nearby, especially in Praia das Macas, Praia Grande,Colares and Sintra. The house information book has full details.
CASTLES, PALACES AND SIGHTS Sintra town (15 minutes from the house) is a great place to visit. The old town was is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Scattered on the hillside there are many buildings and sites of great historical and architectural interest - fun too for children. These include the Palαcio da Pena, a 19th Century folly built at the very top of the hill; several very good museums; the fabulous folly and gardens of Montserrat (just 1 km from the villa); the well-preserved medieval Palacio Nacional do Sintra, in the old town; the Castelo dos Mouros, an Arab fort dating from the 8th Century.
There are many handicraft and antiques shops (also in nearby San Pedro, which has various antiques shops). The modern art gallery in Sintra is genuinely good. The house information book has full details.
GOLF Sintra region is very good for golf: there are 5 courses within easy reach. The Penha Longa course (home of the Estoril Open) is 10 km away and hosts several championships. It has an excellent level of maintenance and beautiful panoramic views over the Sintra hill (Serra de Sintra). Also nearby are Estoril Golf, Quinta da Marinha Golf, Quinta da Beloura Golf, Belas Golf all about 30 min. drive from the villa. Finally, there is a golf driving range only about 2k from the house.
