500-year-old rustic farmhouse in the heart of the Appenini mountains
Welcome to rustic Italy at its most spectacular. Castagnola is a truly Italian hamlet containing 10 houses, all owned by Italians. Some families live here permanently and have done for generations; for some it is a weekend getaway. The hamlet enjoys wonderful mountain views and is situated on a no-through road so is extremely peaceful and very safe for children. It is just 2km from Quara, a pretty village with a good selection of shops and a bar for your morning coffee. Our charming stone house, which is approx 500 years old, can sleep up to 8 (plus 2 travel cots), is well equipped and furnished in a simple style. It retains many original features, including terracotta, brick and flagstone floors, an open fire and a working outdoor pizza oven. From early June to early September there is a wonderful open-air swimming pool in the nearby town of Toano (8km), and the house is extremely well placed for skiing, being just 25 minutes' drive from the ski resort of Febbio.

This sort of ‘scam’ is hard to comprehend but these days fraudsters are coming up with ever more imaginative ways of obtaining money by deception from innocent people like you. We do not want holidaymakers who book with us to fall victim to this type of scheme. Money is mostly hard earned we know, so taking a holiday is usually a major expense. In addition, we do not want you to remember us for a shattered dream.
Therefore, in order to protect you we have introduced our Owner Verification Scheme. We ask all holiday home advertisers to submit proof that they own the property they are advertising. Only when we are satisfied that an advertiser and their property is genuine do we add our Green Shield to their property advert. Apart from being a deterrent, it also encourages advertisers to make sure they verify their property, giving you peace of mind when you make your booking.
If you want to make a booking look for the Green Shield on the top right of the property advert, if you do not see our Green Shield it may mean we have not yet completed the verification process. We normally complete this process within a few days if no verification is forthcoming the advert is removed.
