Accommodation Summary : POOL, AIRCONDITIONING, BBQ, SEA VIEW, VERANDA FOR EATING OUT OVER THE OCEAN, CABLE TV, WIRELESS INTERNET, DVD
Externally Situated close to the popular square, Largo de Camões in the cobble street zone of Cascais, with its abundance of choice when it comes to cafés, restaurants or bars.
The train station is about a 15-minute walk with good links to Estoril, Carcavelos & Lisbon and bus links to Sintra.
Locally - Cascais Marina is great for good food and atmosphere. Sit among the boats and enjoy the sunset from the top deck. Also try the restaurants along the Guincho Road. Ones that stand out are Furnas do Guincho and Monte Mar (be prepared to pay a small price premium for great service and fantastic views and atmosphere).
The Artisan Fair in Estoril (behind Casino) each July and August offers handicraft and a variety of restaurants serving traditional food. Bicycles can be hired locally (no charge) in Cascais and there is a bicycle path which stretches for miles along the beautiful coastline to Guincho Beach. There is also a regular bus service to Guincho Beach, #405. The #403 will get you to Sintra. Another useful route is the #406 from Cascais to Cascais Shopping ( a mall type shopping centre on the outskirts of Cascais Estoril) It stops in Estoril by the beach before returning to Cascais terminus.
Night life includes the Tamariz Night Club which is practically suspended over the beach in Estoril (summertime only) and Jezebels Night Club behind Estoril Casino during the winter months. Alternatively try the club for "the young at heart" (Vangogo) or 70's retro club Rolls Royce, both in Cascais old town. Take in the International Show or Dinner & Show at the Estoril Casino. For the very young or young at heart, take a stroll through the local park (Parque Municipal da Gandarinha) in Cascais. There is an infant playground & mini zoo where you can feed the ducks - or just sit at the local café and read a book whilst the peacocks strut around you. Sit out in the late afternoon and enjoy the sunset on the Esplanade Bar in Cascais (Praia da Rainha), whilst enjoying champagne sangria. Or if you're an early riser, catch the auctions in the square where the fishermen sell their daily catch. Market days are Wednesday (full market day) and Saturday, (fresh produce)
There are many walking routes in the mountains (parts of it protected by World Heritage) behind Cascais, if you wish we can provide information and/or contacts to the local walking groups here.
The tourism office is situated in the square in Cascais, for all the maps and local information you need.On the doorstep to the property is the Parque Marechal Carmona - one single space resulting from the marriage of the gardens of the Palace of the Conde of Castro Guimarães and the property of the Visconde of Gandarinha. Apart from an abundance of exotic trees and shrubs, the tranquillity of this park offers curious hiding places to quietly read a book or romantic tree lined pathways to wander around the small ponds, a mini zoo, aviary, youth library, infant playground, duck pond, café, museum, chapel, rose gardens etc... right in the heart of Cascais. Open 8.30-19.45 Summer & 8.30-17.45 Winter
Property is within 5 minutes walk of the Cascais fresh produce market (Wed & Sat)
Travel From Lisbon airport, Cascais is just 27 km (just under 30 mins).
Cheap flights to Lisbon airport available from Monarch, Easyjet, TAP, and British Airways. Or drive up from Faro it's just 2 and a quarter hours.
Bus transfer to Cais do Sodre station in Lisbon then on the train to Cascais.
We are able to offer an airport transfer. Please send an email and we will be happy to assist you.
www.holidayautos.co.uk offer great prices for car rental and we will provide written and map directions to the apartment - it's really simple.
A car is not essential, as the train station is a 15-20 minute walk. The train takes you into Lisbon (32 mins) via Estoril, in clean, modern air-conditioned trains - which are not expensive & always on time!

Thank you Nicola and Pamela.
Your apartment in the Gandarnha complex surpassed all our expectations. The complex is gated, with 24 hours a day security. The whole area is very quiet. The apartment itself is even larger than it seems on the internet site. No shortage of space for relaxing or for storage. Every possible labour saving gadget has been provided. One bedroom is en-suite, the other 2 have a bathroom in the corridor. There is a large balcony off the living room, and off 2 of the bedrooms.
The town centre is about 10 mins. stroll downhill. En route there is the excellent Bar de L'Avenida, serving breakfast , snacks and drinks, at unbelievably low prices. The owner is a very pleasant and helpful young man, who speaks excellent English. We took a break here on several occasions. Right beside this bar there are 3 restaurants serving Portuguese cuisine.
Very close to the centre is O'Luain's Irish Bar. This is the genuine article. The staff are Irish, and English, and are very efficient and helpful. They serve a very tasty lunch every day. The other Irish bar - O'Neills, has little to recommend it.
Around the corner from O'Luain's is an excellent Thai restaurant, possibly the most popular place in town. Nearby are several other excellent restaurants, along the same street. Take your pick.
About 100 metres from the main taxi rank is our favourite : Eduardo's. This is higly recommended by Frommer's guide. It is on Rua Carlos Ribiero. The owner is Belgian, and he serves excellent European food. Not too expensive. Practically all the restaurants in the main square serve very nice food and have an excellent selection of drinks.
If you would like something more upmarket, walk past the Town Hall, heading towards the Marina, and immediately turn right This is an uphill narrow street, where you will find Caffe Italia and Creps, both of which are more expensive than the average. There are other smaller restaurants in the area as well, also a small grocery and wine store.
We had excellent daytrips to Estoril, Sintra, and Lisbon. There are 2 supermarkets beside the Rail Station, Jumbo and The Foodstore. If you are buying wine, you should get it here. The very same wine in the Wine Shop on the corner beside the Thai restaurant is double the price. A visit to the Marina is highly recommended , especially at morning time, when the fishermen are preparing their nets.
Cascais is certainly a very friendy, and interesting town, and we look forward to visiting it again some day. We hope that your excellent appartment will again be available.
Thank you again. The Irish.
John and Mary Daly.

Verified Homeowner
Why is Lupain Holiday Rentals the only holiday rental company to verify the ownership of holiday accommodation? Research has shown that not all advertisers are genuine. There have been cases where people have booked holiday accommodation only to find out it does not exist.
This sort of ‘scam’ is hard to comprehend but these days fraudsters are coming up with ever more imaginative ways of obtaining money by deception from innocent people like you. We do not want holidaymakers who book with us to fall victim to this type of scheme. Money is mostly hard earned we know, so taking a holiday is usually a major expense. In addition, we do not want you to remember us for a shattered dream.
Therefore, in order to protect you we have introduced our Owner Verification Scheme. We ask all holiday home advertisers to submit proof that they own the property they are advertising. Only when we are satisfied that an advertiser and their property is genuine do we add our Green Shield to their property advert. Apart from being a deterrent, it also encourages advertisers to make sure they verify their property, giving you peace of mind when you make your booking.
If you want to make a booking look for the Green Shield on the top right of the property advert, if you do not see our Green Shield it may mean we have not yet completed the verification process. We normally complete this process within a few days if no verification is forthcoming the advert is removed.
We take this Owner Verification Scheme very seriously for your protection. If you have any doubts about the validity of an advert or misrepresentation please contact us with your concerns.
Please note, Lupain Holiday Rentals does not verify the advertisement content placed on this website by property owners, nor do we offer any guarantee as to the correctness of the advertising information placed on this website by third parties.
