Further Information Nerja lies to the east of the Costa del Sol in the very south of Spain. Here miles of beaches are surrounded by the spectacular Almijara Mountains and the climate is one of the most equable in Europe - rarely too hot in the summer and mild throughout the winter. The town, originally a fishing village, has kept its genuine Spanish charm with twisting narrow streets and white buildings. The focal point is the Balcon de Europa - a promenade jutting out into the Mediterranean, giving panoramic views of the coastline to the east and west. There are numerous small shops and restaurants and a weekly street market is held every Tuesday throughout the year.
At the entrance to El Capistrano Village is the Tennis Club where courts and lessons can be booked. Just past the Tennis club is a large 'SuperSol' supermarket and a new indoor swimming pool (useful in the wintertime!). There is a fitness centre approximately 10 minutes walk towards the town.
